Portraits in action

Ward Scott is a next generation portrait photographer and has been a professional photographer since 1986. Using his 20 plus years of photojournalism skills he is able to capture images through the eyes of a seasoned pro. The same style of photography he uses for magazine covers, advertising and newspapers are used to tell the story of his subjects and turn the everyday into a fantastic work of art.

Ward still shoots for major magazines, newspapers and corporations but after the birth of his two sons he realized the need for real life portraits. No more stiff, blue backdrops in an uncomfortable studio.

He has named his style of shooting "Portraits in Action"® Ward has been hired to shoot weddings, parties, pets, cars, even births and funerals in his very unique style. He has also brought his talents over into the usually bland and thrill challenged world of corporate photography. Portraits in Action in the workplace shakes things up a bit. Giving faces to corporations and allowing them to show the pride they have in their work and work force.

He gets to know his subject even before a camera is present. He likes to know what he's getting into and always includes a little part of the person's lifestyle in each portrait.
"I want my subjects to allow me to tell a story by sharing a brief moment of their lives. It makes for a brilliant portrait." says Ward.

What are "Portraits in Action"® ?

Everyone can tell the difference between portraits done at your local mall compared to a portrait in a glossy fashion magazine. Everyone would rather have the Magazine style photo look but they always seem to settle for the same old shopping mall photos when you don't have to, you should't.

Portraits in Action® is a unique process using very little extra lighting in a comfortable environment so not to disturb the natural flow and disturb the subject.

"I get to know my subject before the photo shoots. A photo session can be held in the family's home or in pre-scouted locations. Informal is what it's all about; while having fun and making my subject comfortable.

You would be amazed at how much fun a photo session can be. It doesn't even feel like work to me. I get to bring the families together for a while and freeze those moments forever. When my subjects totally forget the camera is there; that is when the true picture comes out.

I give my clients a work of art. I give them a centerpiece to hang on the wall, not a photo that simply takes up space on a shelf. Homes can be designed around a portrait and what better subjects than your loved ones?"
